Having trouble falling asleep? Staying up all night?

Try these age-old remedies:

  1. Avoid stimulants: Avoid alcohol, caffeine & nicotine at least 2-2.5 hours before bedtime. Also, avoid big meals before bed.
  2. Create a cool, dark, and soothing environment: 
    1. Lavender oil is known to have a calming effect. It comes in various forms e.g. room spray, pillow mister or may be used with an oil diffuser. 
    2. Soft and meditational music might also aid in sleeping better.
  3. Say goodnight to your devices: Avoid any type of device like phones, tablets, or laptops. You may use earphones, if needed.
  4.  Eat foods that induce sleep: Try chamomile tea or warm milk. It’s known to calm the senses.
  5. Pranayama/breathing exercises: You could try basic pranayamas like Anulom Vilom, Brahmari or abdominal breathing under the guidance of a yoga practitioner.
  6.  Gratitude: Always be grateful & thankful to God.
